There are various applications in the healthcare field which are made possible by these computer science technologies. There are wide benefits and challenges also.

The epoching technologies have brought the field of medical science close to perfection but it has challenges associated with it. With the brief study of these technical domains, it is possible to overcome the challenges which will lead us closer towards progress.

The role of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in various sectors of Healthcare:

Predictive Analysis and Diagnoses

Computer Vision enables us to detect various diseases at their initial stage. This helps in proper diagnoses and on-time treatment of such diseases. The predictive analysis helps us to take the mandatory and necessary steps to avoid the spread or growth of a particular disease or infection. This helps in the detection of various lethal diseases like tumors, ulcers, etc.

The image processing techniques. have been a boon to medical science. If care is not taken at a proper stage or the disease is left unpredicted then it may cause severe damage, and the further treatments might be very expensive which a common man could not be able to afford. So, it is better to predict and diagnose the disease at its initial stage.

The timely detection of disease is very important. Once we can detect a particular disease on time then it can save many lives. A disease like cancer is fatal but if detected on time then it can be cured or prevented from growing further. The pattern recognition techniques play a wide role here. They detect the particular growth pattern of cancer and detect them.

Saves Time

Generally, the detection and diagnosis of the disease take maximum time. It is hard to predict a particular disease as various diseases have many common symptoms like cold, fever, allergy, headache, etc. The most popular example is COVID-19, which is the current pandemic with common first stage symptoms like cold, fever, shortness of breath, etc.

The latest technologies and equipment have made the early and fast prediction of these diseases possible. This helps in saving time which can be utilized for the treatment and consultation. It helps in proper time management by doctors as well as it helps in the early treatment. If cancer is predicted at an early stage, then it can be cured, and the patient can be saved from facing many critical surgeries.

The other major issue is knowing that a person is suffering from depression. It is very difficult to predict that a person is depressed because there are no fixed symptoms for this. But the growing technology, Artificial Intelligence, has made it possible to study human behavior and give accurate analysis about the mental and physical condition of human beings. By studying their behavior and changing patterns, one can detect it and provide proper help and consultation to the patient.

Image Processing

The power of machine learning brings the Image Processing technique which helps in the diagnosis, and treatment of the disease. It uses pattern recognition for a detailed study of a particular disease like cancer, ulcers, etc. It requires proper image monitoring, storing, and representation. In this way, proper visualization is made possible. It requires various techniques like neural networks, partial differential equations, linear filtering, image restoration, and much more.

There are various techniques to measure the blood lost during surgeries, heart monitoring, etc. which helps in taking proper and faster decisions.

Medicine

Not only accurate and timely diagnosis but proper treatment is also effectively achieved. Nuclear medicine is a great example to support the contribution of computer vision in healthcare. The radionuclide treatments and radionuclide pharmaceuticals have been successful in treating various diseases. This requires the Computed tomography techniques which have evolved the field of medical science.

Overall, Computer Vision plays a vital role in the above-mentioned sectors. It helps in measuring blood loss before and during any surgery. This helps in estimating the amount of blood required to start any operation or during the operation. This might be required during the treatment of cancer, kidney transplantation, delivery of pregnant women, or operating a patient who has met an accident.

This helps in taking timely decisions by predicting the decisions on time. Hence, a precise diagnosis is possible. It has made medical imaging possible which helps to cure various diseases. Also, nuclear medicine has made medical processes more effective and efficient.

Rising Technology – Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare

MegaScope – Launched by IIT Alumni

A megascope is launched by IIT Alumni which is boosted by Artificial Intelligence and will help in the healthcare sector. This is the biggest achievement that we have gained. It will enhance the quality of testing, and help in effective disease prediction. Hence, its main aim is to test and predict the disease. This would help in the improvement of the healthcare section by enabling the doctors to make accurate and quality decisions as they would get a proper diagnosis of the disease.

An RT-PCR lab might be established in Mumbai, India for such test cases. The test is supposed to predict the virus (COVID-19). It predicts the virus and determines the level of isolation and medication that the person requires. The main thing is that it doesn’t collect any data set.

Prosthetic Hand by – Prashant Gade

Many people dream of having hands. This precious gift does not gift everyone, or some might lose it due to some injury or accident. This is a very critical situation and the growing technology creates a hope that we can provide such patients another chance.

The prosthetic hand, an artificial hand that is capable of doing all the functioning that is possible by a human hand, is the creation of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. An Indian, Prashant Gade, has made this with the use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning which he has studied in his college and provided this as a free service to all the needy. Now, he is associated with an organization that helps in the manufacturing of these prosthetic hands. But the fact is that people are implementing artificial intelligence.

This achievement is proof that the emerging technology and its applications are significantly contributing towards healthcare and this is helping us to secure as many lives as possible. Like prosthetic hands, we have prosthetic legs, which helps people to walk like an ordinary human being. This shows that technology has emerged to such an extent that people can be given another chance to live a normal life.

ChatBots

They are quite underestimated but a great application of machine learning and artificial intelligence. The chatbots can be seen in almost every healthcare site which provides customer service. They help the patients in the diagnosis of disease via symptoms in case the doctor isn’t available. They have been trained by sample data and are made ready to serve the patients with the help of machine learning. They provide online consultation as well.

These are a few applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence in the healthcare sector. Along with this, there are numerous other examples like surgery with the help of robots, various machines for operation, digital counseling, health monitoring applications that keep the track of the number of steps you have walked, the amount of water you drank, etc. This all helps in the monitoring, treatment, and effective study of the human body.

Future Scope

The growing technologies are on the way to increase automation, accurate prediction, effective diagnosis, and much more. The demand for medical science is increasing with time. With the introduction of various new diseases, there is a requirement for new techniques and equipment. There is a wide scope of convolutional neural networks, deep learning, artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data, etc. in the field of healthcare. This involves disease prediction which includes prescriptive as well as predictive analysis of disease. After that, the major requirement is the proper treatment of disease and its monitoring. This is a crucial step.

In the future, we will see numerous such technologies and techniques like MRI, CT Scan, Endoscopy, Angiography, etc. which will help in proper treatment and diagnosis of the disease. As the technologies are growing at a higher pace, they will add up in the progress of the medical field. This will come up with new techniques and tools for predictive analysis of disease. With the help of all these techniques and tools, it would be possible to minimize the death rate and child infant mortality rate. Shortly, this will also help in maintaining the gender ratio. Hence, Computer Vision is the key to development and progress in the healthcare domain.
